Caughlin Ranch is a neighborhood of large homes. The Census puts the median at 6.3 rooms, with 78.4 percent single-family detached and a median home value of $932,900. About 76 percent of homes are owned, and around 75 percent of householders moved in before 2020. With a median age of 51.4, that adds up to many households who have the space and the years to have filled it. ## From 6.3 rooms to fewer A move from a six-room house to a two-bedroom place means each room has to be justified. Measure the new space first and draw it on paper. The furniture that fits goes on the list, the sets that were made for a bigger dining room go on a second list, and the crew moves the first list. Read the [guide to downsizing for seniors](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/guides/downsizing-for-seniors/) for a way to make those lists. ## Rooms nobody has opened in years Larger homes often have a bonus room, a basement or a walk-in closet that works as a store room. The estimator will want to see those too. For a room that needs help sorting, [how to pack a closet](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/guides/how-to-pack-a-closet/) and [how to pack a kitchen](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/guides/how-to-pack-a-kitchen/) show the order the crew follows. ## Elevation and access Caughlin Ranch sits at about 5,169 feet, and it is 8.6 miles and 14 minutes from our Glendale Ave warehouse by SR 659 and I-580. Tell the estimator about steep driveways or stairs at the front door, so the crew plans where to stage the truck and where to carry. ## Storage for the pieces that go to family Some Caughlin Ranch households keep a few big pieces for children or grandchildren. Those can wait in wooden vaults, each 7 ft x 7 ft x 5 ft, until someone has room. [Vault storage](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/full-service-storage/vault-storage/) starts from $40 per month, and the [vault sizer](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/tools/storage-vault-sizer/) gives a quick vault count. ### Sources (checked October 18, 2026) - [U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020-2024 5-year estimates](https://www.census.gov/data/developers/data-sets/acs-5year.html) - [Administration for Community Living, Eldercare Locator](https://eldercare.acl.gov/home) - [FMCSA, Protect Your Move](https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/protect-your-move) ### Free in-home estimate - An O'Brien's estimator walks through your home - A written, itemized estimate - 10 free heavy-duty boxes, yours to keep [How our estimates work](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/how-our-estimates-work/) ### Visit or call the office 2277 Glendale Ave, Sparks, NV 89431 [775-359-6683](tel:+17753596683) | Monday to Friday | 8:00 am to 5:00 pm | | --- | --- | | Saturday and Sunday | Closed | [Get my free estimate](#estimate) ### Related - [Senior moves and downsizing help](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/senior-moving/) - [Downsizing for seniors](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/guides/downsizing-for-seniors/) - [Movers in Caughlin Ranch (89519)](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/caughlin-ranch/) - [Vault storage: how 7 x 7 x 5 ft wooden vaults work](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/full-service-storage/vault-storage/) Nearby ## The same service in nearby towns - [Senior moves and downsizing in Northwest Reno and Somersett (89523)](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/northwest-reno-somersett/senior-moving/) - [Senior moves and downsizing in South Reno and Damonte Ranch (89521)](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/south-reno-damonte-ranch/senior-moving/) - [Senior moves and downsizing in Galena, Montreux and the Mt. Call [775-359-6683](tel:+17753596683), Mon-Fri 8-5, or see the [moving FAQ](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/faq/). ### Can the crew move the furniture that stays in the family to another house? Yes. A second delivery address is listed on the estimate, so a piece can go to a daughter's home while the rest goes to the new place. ### What if the house is on a steep drive? Tell the estimator at the visit. Truck placement is part of the plan. ### Can I split a move between two days? Yes. Many large houses are packed one day and moved the next, and the estimate shows how the days are set. ## 4.3 stars from 71 Google reviews What customers say about O'Brien's [Read more reviews](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/reviews/)[See them on Google](https://maps.google.com/maps?cid=17335326057105140938) J Judy H. F Francie H. February 20, 2026 We were referred to O'Brien's Moving and Storage though a friend in Reno. We couldn't be more pleased with the Professionalism and Service. They were quick to set up Luke to come out and give us a quote and scheduled the actual move date right away. Luke was on time for our quote as were the movers on our moving day. All three of the gentlemen who moved us were professional and courteous from start to finish. From the initial phone call to the completion of our move, we felt like we were treated as family. We would definitely use them again and recommend O'Brien's Moving and Storage to our friends in the future. ### Owner's reply Francie, Thank you for this amazing review.
