Cold Springs lies north of Reno near the California line, in a valley that was mostly open ground a generation ago. The Census numbers show the result: a median home built in 2004, a median age near 37 and homes that are 90 percent detached. The people who live here are mostly families who bought in the last twenty years, and their homes are filled with the furniture and gear of a household still growing. ## A young, settled community With a median household income near $94,000 and a median home value near $433,000, Cold Springs is a community of working families who commute to Reno and Sparks. About 8 percent of residents moved in the past year, and about 18 percent of householders moved in during 2020 or later. Moves here tend to be planned well ahead, often tied to a new job or a bigger house. Families can hand off packing in stages: kitchen first, then the closets, then the garage. ## A longer drive from the yard From Glendale Avenue the crew travels 19 miles, 16 of them on I-580, in about 27 minutes. It is a longer trip than most Reno-area neighborhoods. Because of the distance, the plan for the day matters: a crew leader schedules the loading so the truck is not driving half empty, and a storage drop-off is timed with the load. The ride is easier before the morning commute builds. ## Weather at 5,074 feet The community sits at roughly 5,074 feet, about 640 feet above the warehouse. Snow and ice come earlier, and wind across the valley can pick up. Look at NVRoads the evening before and tell the crew leader if the driveway is steep. The crew uses floor runners and may hold the start until the road is clear. ## Newer homes with big garages Newer homes tend to have attached garages that fill with bikes, tools, holiday boxes and sports gear. The estimator counts these in the written estimate, and the 10 free heavy-duty boxes are for the loose items. Garages are also good places to stage boxes; the crew can load them first. ## More ways we help - [Full, partial and box-packing-only service](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/cold-springs/packing/) - [Vault storage](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/cold-springs/storage/) from $40 per month - [Senior moves and downsizing](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/cold-springs/senior-moving/) ### Sources (checked October 18, 2026) - [U.S. Census Bureau, ACS 2020-2024 5-year estimates](https://www.census.gov/data/developers/data-sets/acs-5year.html) - [Washoe County](https://www.washoecounty.gov/) - [Nevada Department of Transportation](https://www.dot.nv.gov/) ### Free in-home estimate - An O'Brien's estimator walks through your home - A written, itemized estimate - 10 free heavy-duty boxes, yours to keep [How our estimates work](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/how-our-estimates-work/) ### Visit or call the office 2277 Glendale Ave, Sparks, NV 89431 [775-359-6683](tel:+17753596683) | Monday to Friday | 8:00 am to 5:00 pm | | --- | --- | | Saturday and Sunday | Closed | [Get my free estimate](#estimate) ### Related - [Movers in Lemmon Valley](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/lemmon-valley/) - [Movers in North Valleys and Stead (89506)](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/north-valleys-stead/) - [Local moving in Reno, Sparks and Carson City](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/local-moving/) - [Free in-home moving estimate (plus 10 free heavy-duty boxes)](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/free-estimate/) ## Services in Cold Springs 3 - [### Packing services in Cold Springs](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/cold-springs/packing/) - [### Storage for Cold Springs households](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/cold-springs/storage/) - [### Senior moves and downsizing in Cold Springs](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/cold-springs/senior-moving/) Nearby ## Other towns in this area - [Movers in Verdi](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/verdi/) - [Movers in Washoe Valley](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/washoe-valley/) - [Movers in Pyramid Lake (Sutcliffe)](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/pyramid-lake/) - [Movers in Reno](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/reno/) - [Movers in Sparks](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/sparks/) - [Movers in Downtown and Midtown Reno (89501)](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/downtown-midtown-reno/) - [Movers in Old Southwest Reno (89509)](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/old-southwest-reno/) - [Movers in Caughlin Ranch (89519)](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/caughlin-ranch/) - [Reno, Sparks and the Truckee Meadows](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/truckee-meadows/) Answers ## Movers in Cold Springs questions Still have a question?
