Cold Springs sits in a valley northwest of Reno, about 5,100 feet above sea level, with 3,618 households in the Census estimates for 2020-2024. The median home was built in 2004 and about 92 percent of homes are owner-occupied. It is about 19 miles and 27 minutes from our yard in Sparks, 16 of those miles on I-580. ## Three bedrooms and a lot of space About 2,200 Cold Springs homes have three bedrooms, about 740 have four, and about 400 have five or more. With a median of 6.1 rooms, the standard job is a three- or four-bedroom house with a family room, a loft or bonus room, and a garage. A pack for a house of that size is planned in stages across a day or two. ## Younger families, more equipment A newer subdivision tends to have households with children, and the contents show it: playsets, bikes, sports gear and furniture that was bought for a growing family. Bulky items are bundled or wrapped, small things go into labeled cartons, and the crew keeps toys and bedding for the first night in their own box. ## The drive shapes the day At 27 minutes from the yard, a Cold Springs job is among the longer local runs in the Truckee Meadows. The crew packs the day before, if it can, so loading starts on time and the truck is not waiting on the last box. If your closing date moves, the cartons can wait in vaults at the warehouse; see [storage when your new home is not ready](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/full-service-storage/storage-for-new-construction-delays/). ## Winter in the valley Cold Springs gets frost and snow, and a driveway can be icy on a winter morning. Tell the estimator if your street is steep or shaded, and ask the crew about spreading the load across a second day if conditions turn. ## Ways to pack a Cold Springs home - Full pack of the whole house and garage - Kitchen and breakables by the crew, the rest by you - Your own boxes with a crew-only load - Cartons for vaults packed and listed on an inventory ### Sources (checked October 18, 2026) - [U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020-2024 5-year estimates](https://www.census.gov/data/developers/data-sets/acs-5year.html) - [FMCSA, Protect Your Move](https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/protect-your-move) ### Free in-home estimate - An O'Brien's estimator walks through your home - A written, itemized estimate - 10 free heavy-duty boxes, yours to keep [How our estimates work](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/how-our-estimates-work/) ### Visit or call the office 2277 Glendale Ave, Sparks, NV 89431 [775-359-6683](tel:+17753596683) | Monday to Friday | 8:00 am to 5:00 pm | | --- | --- | | Saturday and Sunday | Closed | [Get my free estimate](#estimate) ### Related - [Professional packing services](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/packing/) - [Full packing service](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/packing/full-packing/) - [Storage when your new home is not ready](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/full-service-storage/storage-for-new-construction-delays/) - [Movers in Cold Springs](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/cold-springs/) Nearby ## The same service in nearby towns - [Packing services in Verdi](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/verdi/packing/) - [Packing services in Washoe Valley](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/washoe-valley/packing/) - [Packing services in Reno](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/reno/packing/) - [Packing services in Sparks](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/sparks/packing/) - [Packing services in Downtown and Midtown Reno (89501)](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/downtown-midtown-reno/packing/) - [Packing services in Old Southwest Reno (89509)](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/old-southwest-reno/packing/) - [Movers in Cold Springs](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/cold-springs/) In Cold Springs ## More services in Cold Springs - [Storage for Cold Springs households](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/cold-springs/storage/) - [Senior moves and downsizing in Cold Springs](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/cold-springs/senior-moving/) Answers ## Packing services in Cold Springs questions Still have a question? August 4, 2023 Talk about organized people. I peeked in the truck about an hour into the job and was amazed at how well organized it was and how many of my things had protective coverings. Our bed is a mechanical one and a nightmare to us, but these guys had no issue with it at all. Although I have no desire to ever move again--but if I did, I would be calling these guys for sure!!! R Robert B. June 22, 2026 The movers were very professional and took care of my stuff there were no worries and stress free amazing job. M Mark S. January 22, 2026 Great company and local.
