Dayton is a Lyon County community at about 4,302 feet along the Carson River. About 8.2 percent of residents moved in the past year, and new neighborhoods have brought families who often stay for years. ## A growing owner community Roughly four in five Dayton households own their home. Many bought in newer subdivisions where houses are built close together and garages fill quickly with boxes. When an owner sells or moves, storage lets them clear a house for showings without committing to a second move. ## New homes and delays Construction schedules shift. A buyer may need to leave the old house on a closing date while the new one is still weeks away. Vaults hold furniture for that gap. Read the [new construction delays](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/full-service-storage/storage-for-new-construction-delays/) page for how those weeks are usually managed. ## Drive to the warehouse The Sparks vault warehouse is about 44 miles and 66 minutes from Dayton. The crew loads at your home and runs the vaults to Sparks in one trip. Your estimator sets the pickup day, and the office schedules delivery with about 2 to 3 weeks notice to ship. ## Seasonal weather at 4,300 feet Dayton sits low and dry, with hot summers. Schedule loading in the morning during July and August so the crew works in cooler hours. ## What goes into a vault - Beds, sofas and dressers - Boxed household goods - Dining sets and bookcases - Exercise equipment and hobby gear ## Pricing and next step Vault storage starts at $40 per month, and each wooden vault is 7 ft x 7 ft x 5 ft. The free estimate includes 10 free heavy-duty boxes. Use the [vault sizer](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/tools/storage-vault-sizer/) to prepare. ## Garage clutter and moving up Dayton's newer subdivisions put a lot of living into small lots, and garages become the overflow room. When a family moves up to a larger home, it often finds that half of what filled the garage is not coming along. Vault storage lets the household decide at its own speed. Seasonal decorations, spare furniture and sports gear wait in the warehouse until the new space is ready for them. The crew lists every item going into a vault, so a family can look at the inventory and choose what to pull first. ### Sources (checked October 18, 2026) - [U.S. Census Bureau, ACS 2020-2024 5-year estimates](https://www.census.gov/data/developers/data-sets/acs-5year.html) - [Lyon County, Nevada](https://www.lyon-county.org/) ### Vault storage in Sparks Wooden vaults, 7 ft x 7 ft x 5 ft each, in our 30,000 sq ft warehouse.
