O'Brien's crews pack studios, one-bedrooms and condos, and 10 free heavy-duty boxes come with the free in-home estimate. or call [775-359-6683](tel:+17753596683) [4.3 on Google · 71 reviews](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/reviews/) Family owned since 1941 [U.S. DOT No. 30611](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/about/licenses-and-authority/) ## Downtown and Midtown Reno: Homes and rooms - Median rooms per home 2.2 - Single-family detached homes 3.5% - Homes by bedrooms no bedroom: 1,247, 1: 991, 2: 638, 3: 181, 4: 22, 5+: 5 - Built before 1980 59.3% Data: [U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020-2024 5-year estimates](https://www.census.gov/data/developers/data-sets/acs-5year.html). Downtown and Midtown Reno is the smallest-home neighborhood we pack. The Census figures for this ZIP show 2,331 households, about 78 percent of them renters, and a housing stock where studios and one-bedrooms outnumber everything else. The warehouse is only about 2 miles and 6 minutes away, the closest of any Reno neighborhood. ## Two rooms, many belongings A median of 2.2 rooms means a kitchen and a main room, with maybe one bedroom. About 1,250 homes here are studios and another 990 are one-bedrooms, against only about 200 with three bedrooms or more. People in small places tend to own the same kinds of things as everyone else, only closer together. Books, kitchenware and closets full of clothes all come out of a small footprint, so the pack is dense. ## Why carton size matters in a building Most Downtown and Midtown homes are in multi-unit buildings, and the route from the unit to the truck often includes a stairwell, an elevator or a shared hallway. We pack heavy items such as books in small cartons that a person can carry through a doorway without strain, and light bedding in larger ones. Labels go on the side of the carton, not the top, so they can be read when the boxes are stacked in the hall. ## Short-lease and quick-turn moves About 38 percent of residents in this ZIP moved in the past year, one of the highest rates in the area. Moves between leases leave little room for error, so the pack is often scheduled for the day before the keys change hands. Your estimator can plan a pack and a move for consecutive days, and our [apartment and condo moving](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/local-moving/apartments-and-condos/) page explains how the crew handles buildings. ## Older buildings and fragile things About 59 percent of homes here were built before 1980, and many have old windows, thin walls and narrow stairs. Mirrors, framed art and glass tabletops go into picture cartons with corner protection. If a piece is worth more than a standard carton, ask about [custom crating](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/packing/custom-crating/). ## A pack that fits the apartment - Kitchen and bathroom only, with the rest packed by you - Pictures, mirrors and glass packed by the crew - A full pack for a larger loft or a two-bedroom - Packing into your own boxes when you have them ### Sources (checked October 18, 2026) - [U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020-2024 5-year estimates](https://www.census.gov/data/developers/data-sets/acs-5year.html) - [FMCSA, Protect Your Move](https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/protect-your-move) ### Free in-home estimate - An O'Brien's estimator walks through your home - A written, itemized estimate - 10 free heavy-duty boxes, yours to keep [How our estimates work](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/how-our-estimates-work/) ### Visit or call the office 2277 Glendale Ave, Sparks, NV 89431 [775-359-6683](tel:+17753596683) | Monday to Friday | 8:00 am to 5:00 pm | | --- | --- | | Saturday and Sunday | Closed | [Get my free estimate](#estimate) ### Related - [Professional packing services](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/packing/) - [Partial packing and box-packing-only service](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/packing/partial-packing/) - [Apartment and condo moves](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/local-moving/apartments-and-condos/) - [Movers in Downtown and Midtown Reno (89501)](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/downtown-midtown-reno/) Nearby ## The same service in nearby towns - [Packing services in Old Southwest Reno (89509)](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/old-southwest-reno/packing/) - [Packing services in Caughlin Ranch (89519)](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/caughlin-ranch/packing/) - [Packing services in Northwest Reno and Somersett (89523)](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/northwest-reno-somersett/packing/) - [Packing services in South Reno and Damonte Ranch (89521)](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/south-reno-damonte-ranch/packing/) - [Packing services in Galena, Montreux and the Mt. Call [775-359-6683](tel:+17753596683), Mon-Fri 8-5, or see the [moving FAQ](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/faq/). ### Can the crew pack only my fragile things? Yes. Many Downtown renters pack their own clothes and books and ask the crew for the kitchen, glass and framed art. ### Do you carry cartons up stairs? The crew works with stairs and elevators every week. Tell the estimator which floor you are on so the plan covers the route. ### Can packing and the move be on different days? Yes. Packing the day before moving day is common, and the date is set on your written estimate. ## 4.3 stars from 71 Google reviews What customers say about O'Brien's [Read more reviews](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/reviews/)[See them on Google](https://maps.google.com/maps?cid=17335326057105140938) M Mark S.
