Rose Highway The Galena, Montreux and Mt. Rose Highway ZIP has about 1,280 homes with five or more bedrooms and a median of 6.3 rooms, so a full pack here often means a very large house. O'Brien's crews pack in stages, and 10 free heavy-duty boxes come with the free in-home estimate. or call [775-359-6683](tel:+17753596683) [4.3 on Google · 71 reviews](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/reviews/) Family owned since 1941 [U.S. DOT No. 30611](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/about/licenses-and-authority/) ## Galena, Montreux and Mt. Rose Highway: Homes and rooms - Median rooms per home 6.3 - Single-family detached homes 67.4% - Homes by bedrooms no bedroom: 238, 1: 1,487, 2: 2,724, 3: 4,235, 4: 3,944, 5+: 1,281 - Built before 1980 17.3% Data: [U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020-2024 5-year estimates](https://www.census.gov/data/developers/data-sets/acs-5year.html). Galena and Montreux are at the high, wooded south end of the Reno area, where the elevation is about 6,300 feet and the Mt. Rose Highway starts to climb. The Census figures for this ZIP count 13,054 households and the largest homes in the south valley. The drive from our yard in Sparks is about 17 miles and 23 minutes, over I-580 and SR 431. ## The big end of the bedroom chart Most neighborhoods are led by three-bedroom homes. Here four-bedroom homes are nearly as common as three-bedroom ones, about 3,900 against about 4,200, and more than 1,280 homes have five bedrooms or more. A five-bedroom house is a multi-day pack. The estimator plans the rooms in a fixed order so the house empties in a way that makes sense. ## A median home value above $900,000 According to the Census Bureau, the median home value in this ZIP is about $916,600. Homes at that level tend to hold art, collections, wine and furnishings that need individual care. Ask about [wine cellar moving](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/specialty-moving/wine-cellars/), [fine art and antiques](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/specialty-moving/fine-art-and-antiques/) and [custom crating](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/packing/custom-crating/) at the in-home visit. ## Packing at 6,000 feet The elevation here is high enough that the weather turns earlier in fall and lingers later in spring. Packed cartons should not wait on a porch or in an open garage in freezing weather, and a snowy driveway changes how a truck can approach. The estimator walks the driveway and the grade and plans the pack and load so cartons go from the house to the truck quickly. ## Seasonal homes and second households Some homes in this area are lived in part of the year, with furniture and household goods spread across two locations. If part of your household goes to a second home, part to storage and part to a new house, we can pack in groups with each group marked, and vaults are available for the share that waits; see [seasonal and second-home storage](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/full-service-storage/seasonal-and-second-home-storage/). ## What a large-house pack includes - Room-by-room cartons with inventories - Wrapped and padded furniture - Picture and mirror cartons for the walls - Separate plans for the garage, loft and basement ### Sources (checked October 18, 2026) - [U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020-2024 5-year estimates](https://www.census.gov/data/developers/data-sets/acs-5year.html) - [USGS, 3D Elevation Program Point Query Service](https://apps.nationalmap.gov/epqs/) ### Free in-home estimate - An O'Brien's estimator walks through your home - A written, itemized estimate - 10 free heavy-duty boxes, yours to keep [How our estimates work](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/how-our-estimates-work/) ### Visit or call the office 2277 Glendale Ave, Sparks, NV 89431 [775-359-6683](tel:+17753596683) | Monday to Friday | 8:00 am to 5:00 pm | | --- | --- | | Saturday and Sunday | Closed | [Get my free estimate](#estimate) ### Related - [Professional packing services](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/packing/) - [Custom crating for art, glass, antiques and machinery](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/packing/custom-crating/) - [Wine cellar moving](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/specialty-moving/wine-cellars/) - [Movers in Galena, Montreux and the Mt. August 4, 2023 Talk about organized people. I peeked in the truck about an hour into the job and was amazed at how well organized it was and how many of my things had protective coverings. Our bed is a mechanical one and a nightmare to us, but these guys had no issue with it at all. Although I have no desire to ever move again--but if I did, I would be calling these guys for sure!!! R Robert B. June 22, 2026 The movers were very professional and took care of my stuff there were no worries and stress free amazing job. M Mark S. January 22, 2026 Great company and local.
