The Census count for Gardnerville shows about 2,800 households, a median of 5 rooms per home and a median build year of 2001. Half of the town's homes are single-family detached houses, and the other half are apartments, townhomes and other attached housing. ## Three bedrooms, and a lot of two Of roughly 2,900 homes, about 1,480 have three bedrooms and about 620 have two. The two-bedroom homes tend to be rentals and townhomes, and they pack faster, with a smaller kitchen and a single garage or none. The three-bedroom homes are where the packing day gets long. Because nearly half of Gardnerville households rent, a good share of packing jobs here are lease-end moves. Those have a firm date, and the crew plans the pack so that the last day leaves time for cleaning. ## Packing for a lease change When a move date is set by a landlord, a partial pack is a practical choice. The crew packs the kitchen, the pictures and the breakable pieces, and you handle linens and clothes. Learn more about [partial packing](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/packing/partial-packing/). If the new home is not ready, packed goods can wait in wooden vaults in our warehouse, from $40 per month. - Kitchen and dishes packed by the crew - Pictures and mirrors in picture cartons - Mattresses bagged - Your own boxes accepted if they are sturdy ## Apartments and townhomes The estimator checks the stairs, the carry and the parking for any attached home. Narrow stairs mean smaller cartons, so no one carries a 60-pound box down a flight. Heavy items such as books and tools go in small cartons by design. ## Getting supplies Boxes, paper, wrap and tape are sold at the Sparks office, 2277 Glendale Ave, about 49 miles from Gardnerville. Your first 10 heavy-duty boxes come free with the estimate visit. The [packing calculator](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/tools/packing-calculator/) estimates how many cartons your rooms need before you drive up. ## Beyond the valley Gardnerville households also move to other states. The crew packs those shipments to travel, and the long-distance move runs through the Bekins network. August 4, 2023 Talk about organized people. I peeked in the truck about an hour into the job and was amazed at how well organized it was and how many of my things had protective coverings. Our bed is a mechanical one and a nightmare to us, but these guys had no issue with it at all. Although I have no desire to ever move again--but if I did, I would be calling these guys for sure!!!
