Genoa is a small town of about 1,300 people in roughly 540 households, set at the base of the Carson Range at about 4,668 feet. Only about 10 percent of its households rent, and the community is made up mostly of long-time owners and a good number of people who live here only part of the year. ## Seasonal use in a small town The Census counts housing units that are used only seasonally, recreationally or occasionally, and for Genoa that is about 8.6 percent of all units. Next door in Minden the figure is 3.5 percent, and in Carson City it is 0.5 percent. A house that is used part of the year usually carries furniture that stays when the owners go. Storage lets an owner remove the extra pieces, whether for a refresh, a sale or a change in how the house is used. ## Owners rather than renters With only about 9.9 percent of households renting, Genoa storage rarely comes from a lease ending. It comes from a decision by the owner: a remodel that clears the main floor, a second house that needs furnishing, or a family sorting through an older relative's belongings. Those are planned jobs, so there is time for a visit from the estimator and a proper count before packing day. ## Wooden vaults in the Sparks warehouse The crew packs, wraps and loads your things into wooden vaults, each 7 ft x 7 ft x 5 ft, and stacks them in the 30,000 sq ft warehouse at 2277 Glendale Ave in Sparks. Vault storage starts at $40 per month. Stored goods ship with about 2 to 3 weeks notice, which suits owners who plan a refresh in advance. ## From Genoa to Sparks The warehouse is about 45 miles and 59 minutes from Genoa. The crew loads in town and drives the vaults north in one trip. Tell the estimator about parking and driveway access during the visit, so the crew brings the right truck. ## Good items to put in vaults - Furniture swapped out of a seasonal house - Antiques and heirlooms awaiting a decision - Artwork rotated off the walls - Patio and guest-room furniture between seasons ## Next steps Request the free in-home estimate, which comes with 10 free heavy-duty boxes. February 20, 2026 We were referred to O'Brien's Moving and Storage though a friend in Reno. We couldn't be more pleased with the Professionalism and Service. They were quick to set up Luke to come out and give us a quote and scheduled the actual move date right away. Luke was on time for our quote as were the movers on our moving day. All three of the gentlemen who moved us were professional and courteous from start to finish. From the initial phone call to the completion of our move, we felt like we were treated as family. We would definitely use them again and recommend O'Brien's Moving and Storage to our friends in the future. ### Owner's reply Francie, Thank you for this amazing review.
