O'Brien's crews reach it from Sparks on I-580 and US 395, a drive of under 50 miles. or call [775-359-6683](tel:+17753596683) [4.3 on Google · 71 reviews](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/reviews/) Family owned since 1941 [U.S. DOT No. 30611](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/about/licenses-and-authority/) ## Minden by the numbers - Drive from our Sparks warehouse 47 mi, about 58 min via I-580, US 395 - Population 3,707 - Households 1,527 - Homes owned / rented 74.5% / 25.5% - Median year built 1995 - Median home value $586,000 - Moved in the past year 13.6% - Elevation 4,709 ft - County Douglas County - ZIP codes 89423 Data (read 2026-10-19): [U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020-2024 5-year estimates](https://www.census.gov/data/developers/data-sets/acs-5year.html); [OSRM routing on OpenStreetMap data, free-flow drive from 2277 Glendale Ave, Sparks](https://project-osrm.org/); [USGS Elevation Point Query Service](https://apps.nationalmap.gov/epqs/). Minden is the quiet center of Douglas County, a town of wide streets, ranch land on every side and homes with real yards. The figures above show a town with a high median home value and a high share of owner-occupied houses. Those numbers describe moves with a lot of furniture and a lot of outdoor belongings. ## Houses with yards, garages and outbuildings In Minden, 84.6 percent of homes are detached single-family houses and three in four households own. A typical move here includes a two-car garage, patio furniture, tools, and sometimes a barn or shed. The estimator walks the property outdoors as well as inside so the itemized estimate covers everything the truck will carry. Larger homes also mean more rooms, and the median is 5.7 per home. A household that size is a good candidate for full packing; the [full packing service](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/packing/full-packing/) wraps and boxes everything. Many Minden households choose [partial packing](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/minden/packing/) instead and pack the closets themselves. ## Rents are high for a small town Minden's median gross rent is among the highest in the Carson Valley, and renters make up about a quarter of its households. Rental moves here tend to be from a house or a townhome, not from large complexes, so the question is usually the driveway and how far the truck can back in. ## The drive from Sparks The route is I-580 south through Carson City and then US 395 into the valley. The fact block gives the miles and the minutes. Because the drive is long enough to matter, crews arrive loaded and ready, and a move that ends in Reno or Sparks can finish at the warehouse the same afternoon if the new home is not yet ready. ## What Minden households ask for - Full or partial packing before a house sale - Vault storage between homes, from $40 per month, see [storage in Minden](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/minden/storage/) - Careful placement of fine furniture, see [white-glove furniture delivery](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/commercial-moving/white-glove-delivery/) - [Senior moves and downsizing](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/minden/senior-moving/) for retirees leaving the ranch house - [Long-distance moves](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/minden/long-distance/) through the Bekins network ## Winter in the valley At about 4,700 feet, Minden gets cold mornings and occasional snow. Crews bring floor runners, and when snow is forecast the office calls to agree on a start time. The valley is also windy at times, which matters for open truck doors, so the crew works from the lee side of the truck. ### Sources (checked October 18, 2026) - [U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey](https://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/acs) - [Douglas County, Nevada](https://www.douglascountynv.gov/) ### Free in-home estimate - An O'Brien's estimator walks through your home - A written, itemized estimate - 10 free heavy-duty boxes, yours to keep [How our estimates work](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/how-our-estimates-work/) ### Visit or call the office 2277 Glendale Ave, Sparks, NV 89431 [775-359-6683](tel:+17753596683) | Monday to Friday | 8:00 am to 5:00 pm | | --- | --- | | Saturday and Sunday | Closed | [Get my free estimate](#estimate) ### Related - [Carson City and the Carson Valley](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/carson-city-and-carson-valley/) - [Movers in Gardnerville](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/gardnerville/) - [Storage for Minden households](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/minden/storage/) - [Full packing service](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/packing/full-packing/) ## Services in Minden 6 - [### Packing services in Minden](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/minden/packing/) - [### Storage for Minden households](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/minden/storage/) - [### Senior moves and downsizing in Minden](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/minden/senior-moving/) - [### Long-distance moving from Minden](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/minden/long-distance/) - [### Office and commercial moving in Minden](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/minden/office-moving/) - [### White-glove furniture delivery in Minden](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/minden/white-glove-delivery/) Nearby ## Other towns in this area - [Movers in Gardnerville](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/gardnerville/) - [Movers in Gardnerville Ranchos](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/gardnerville-ranchos/) - [Movers in Genoa](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/genoa/) - [Movers in Johnson Lane](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/johnson-lane/) - [Movers in Indian Hills](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/indian-hills/) - [Movers in Dayton](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/dayton/) - [Movers in Virginia City](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/virginia-city/) - [Movers in Carson City](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/carson-city/) - [Carson City and the Carson Valley](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/carson-city-and-carson-valley/) Answers ## Movers in Minden questions Still have a question? August 28, 2024 Extremely happy with the moving experience. The moving team showed up on time, friendly and polite. They did a wonderful job moving our boxes and furniture to the new location. We moved a three bedroom home and I could not be more pleased with the employees who assisted with the move. Highly recommend O'Brien moving for your move. ### Owner's reply Michelle, thank you so much for taking the time to write this review. We are so happy to hear about the move experience you had with our company and glad to know we met your expectations! It means a lot to us to know that. Thank you for choosing us as your moving partner. S Sonia P. August 4, 2023 Talk about organized people. I peeked in the truck about an hour into the job and was amazed at how well organized it was and how many of my things had protective coverings. Our bed is a mechanical one and a nightmare to us, but these guys had no issue with it at all. Although I have no desire to ever move again--but if I did, I would be calling these guys for sure!!! ## Get your free, in-home moving estimate An estimator visits, walks through everything and gives you a written, itemized estimate.
