O'Brien's wooden vaults in Sparks start at $40 per month. or call [775-359-6683](tel:+17753596683) [4.3 on Google · 71 reviews](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/reviews/) Family owned since 1941 [U.S. DOT No. 30611](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/about/licenses-and-authority/) ## Minden: Movers and renters - Drive to our vault warehouse 47 mi, about 58 min - Households renting 25.5% - Moved in the past year 13.6% - Seasonal or second homes 3.5% Data: [U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020-2024 5-year estimates](https://www.census.gov/data/developers/data-sets/acs-5year.html); [OSRM routing on OpenStreetMap data, free-flow drive from 2277 Glendale Ave, Sparks](https://project-osrm.org/). Minden is a town of about 3,700 people in roughly 1,500 households, with the Douglas County seat on its doorstep. Only about a quarter of the households rent, which makes this a homeowner town where storage tends to come with a project, such as a remodel, an addition or a retirement move. ## A second-home share worth noting The Census counts about 3.5 percent of Minden housing units as seasonal, recreational or occasional-use homes. That sounds small, but it is several times the share in Carson City, and it reflects owners who keep a Valley house for part of the year. Those owners often have furniture that rotates between homes. Vaults hold the extra pieces in Sparks while the house is closed up or being refreshed. ## Homeowners and projects About 74 percent of households in Minden own their home. Owners tend to store because of something happening to the house rather than a lease date. A kitchen remodel might need three or four weeks of storage. A sale might call for staging furniture to be swapped out. A family heading for a smaller place might store what is left. ## The trip to the warehouse The Sparks warehouse is about 47 miles and 58 minutes from Minden, close to an hour on the road. Crews load on site in the Valley and drive the vaults north in one run. Check NV Roads in winter before a packing day, since conditions between the Valley and the Reno area can change fast. ## How the vaults are used - Wooden vaults measure 7 ft x 7 ft x 5 ft - Crew packs, wraps and loads at your home - Vaults are stacked in the warehouse by forklift - Stored goods ship with about 2 to 3 weeks notice ## Planning with the estimator Tell the estimator how long the goods will sit and where they will go afterward. If the answer is another house in the Valley, the delivery is scheduled with the office once your date is firm. The estimate is free, in your home, with no obligation, and comes with 10 free heavy-duty boxes.
