Minden sits in the Carson Valley at 4,709 feet, a town of about 3,700 people in roughly 1,500 households with the county seat of Douglas County at its center. Its homes are mostly single-family, about 85 percent by the Census count, and three out of four are owner-occupied. A newer home brings open rooms, higher ceilings and larger doorways, and it brings buyers who furnish a house room by room over a season instead of in one weekend. ## Newer homes, staged deliveries With about 31 percent of Minden homes built since 2000 and a median build year of 1995, many households here are on a first or second owner. They tend to order furniture in stages: the living room first, bedrooms next, an outdoor set when the weather turns. White-glove delivery fits that rhythm because a crew can come for one room or for five, and each visit follows the same careful routine. ## A 47-mile trip with the furniture protected The drive from the Glendale Ave warehouse to Minden is about 46.9 miles, which is long enough that padding and strapping matter. Pieces are wrapped before they are loaded, carried in wrapped, and unwrapped in the room where they will stay. Orders that arrive early can wait in wooden vaults at the warehouse, with [vault storage](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/full-service-storage/vault-storage/) from $40 per month. ## Typical Minden deliveries - Dining sets for open kitchen and great-room plans - Leather and fabric sofas ordered from showrooms in the valley or in Reno - Bedroom furniture for a second home or a guest suite - Pieces chosen by an interior designer for a client's new build, handled through the [designer logistics service](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/commercial-moving/interior-designers/) ## What to expect on delivery day The crew calls from the road when it reaches the edge of the valley. Furniture comes off the truck wrapped and is unwrapped in the room, then set in the position marked on the layout. Wrapping goes back on the truck so that the house is left as clean as it was found, unless you ask for a different arrangement at the estimate. ## What to prepare Measure the doors and the turn from the garage to the main room, and tell the estimator whether the entry is gravel, pavers or concrete. The [free in-home estimate](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/free-estimate/) covers the delivery path, and each visit comes with 10 free heavy-duty boxes.
