The area north of downtown Carson City, ZIP 89706, counts roughly 20,500 residents and about 8,400 households in the latest Census estimates. With a median age near 40, older residents are a smaller part of the neighborhood than in places like Genoa or Johnson Lane, and the senior moves that happen here tend to be planned around a family. ## Who is moving in a younger neighborhood About 40 percent of North Carson City households rent and about 15 percent of residents moved in the past year, a faster pace than the city average. For an older renter, the move often depends on a lease end date and on an elevator or stair plan, so the estimator will ask for the building's rules on the first visit. The other 60 percent own homes, and the median house was built in 1981. Owners who have stayed since the 1980s usually have the most to sort. ## A short drive to the warehouse The yard and warehouse at 2277 Glendale Ave are about 30 miles away, roughly 36 minutes on I-580. That makes North Carson City one of the closer Carson stops for a same-day load into a vault. Vault storage is from $40 per month, and the crew places your belongings in wooden vaults in the Sparks warehouse. ## Packing a house of many years A house from the early 1980s tends to have a garage workbench, a hall closet of linens and a kitchen of well-used cookware. The crew can pack the whole house, or only the rooms you are not ready to touch yourself. Our [senior moving checklist](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/guides/senior-moving-checklist/) lists what to do in the last two weeks. ## When a child or grandchild lends a hand Family helpers often want a clear job. The estimator can mark which items the family keeps, which go to the new home and which are donated, so the crew does not load the wrong things. If a relative lives out of town, the office will talk it through by phone during office hours, Monday to Friday. ## Setting up the new space At the new address the crew places furniture where you want it and can unpack. Ask for the beds and the kitchen to be set up first so the first night feels familiar.
