Old Southwest Reno is the 89509 ZIP code, about 35,600 residents in roughly 16,800 households with a median of 5.1 rooms and 56 percent of homes owner-occupied. The neighborhood is known for tree-lined streets and older homes. A delivery to one of those homes means narrow driveways, mature trees and street parking. ## Older homes, finer details A 1975 median build year, with many much older homes, means original woodwork, plaster walls, narrow stairs and sometimes a basement entrance. White-glove delivery takes those details seriously. Doorways are measured, corners protected and floors covered before the first piece is carried in. ## Street parking and tree-lined blocks Mature trees and parked cars narrow the approach to many Old Southwest homes. Tell the estimator which side of the street is easiest, whether a permit is needed and if the driveway fits a truck. A short walk from the truck to the door calls for more carries, which is planned for in the estimate. ## Heirlooms and furniture with history Higher-value older homes often hold antiques and family pieces. O'Brien's wraps and moves [fine art and antiques](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/specialty-moving/fine-art-and-antiques/), and the same care applies to a delivery. Furniture can wait in [vault storage](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/full-service-storage/vault-storage/) from $40 per month while a restoration or a remodel finishes. ## What protection looks like in an older house Protection starts at the door. Runners go down on hardwood and tile, corner guards go on the walls at turns, and furniture is lifted rather than slid. Older homes often have a few steps between rooms or a stair with a tight turn, and the crew carries in sections where a piece comes apart. The estimator will ask which surfaces matter most to you, such as original floors or plaster walls, and the written plan names them. ## Starting out The [free in-home estimate](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/free-estimate/) covers the route and the pieces. August 28, 2024 Extremely happy with the moving experience. The moving team showed up on time, friendly and polite. They did a wonderful job moving our boxes and furniture to the new location. We moved a three bedroom home and I could not be more pleased with the employees who assisted with the move. Highly recommend O'Brien moving for your move. ### Owner's reply Michelle, thank you so much for taking the time to write this review. We are so happy to hear about the move experience you had with our company and glad to know we met your expectations! It means a lot to us to know that. Thank you for choosing us as your moving partner. S Sonia P. August 4, 2023 Talk about organized people. I peeked in the truck about an hour into the job and was amazed at how well organized it was and how many of my things had protective coverings. Our bed is a mechanical one and a nightmare to us, but these guys had no issue with it at all. Although I have no desire to ever move again--but if I did, I would be calling these guys for sure!!! ## Start a project intake Office, lab and FF&E projects get a site visit and a written plan.
