Stateline is the small Nevada community on the south shore of Lake Tahoe, right on the California line, with only about 500 residents in roughly 250 households. At a median age near 35 and 6,241 feet, it is a rental town, and a senior moving in or out is most often in an apartment or a condominium. ## Renters, not owners With 92 percent of households renting, senior moves in Stateline are about lease dates, building managers and loading access, not house sales. The small population means the Census estimates carry wide margins, but the pattern is clear. The estimator asks for the manager's contact and the building's rules before the day. ## Elevator, stairs and parking Apartment moves are decided at the door. The crew needs to know the floor, whether an elevator can be reserved, where a truck can stop and how far it is from the truck to the unit. Our page on [apartment and condo moves](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/local-moving/apartments-and-condos/) explains the checklist. ## Tahoe winters At 6,241 feet, Stateline has snow, ice and chain controls on US 50. The warehouse is about 57 miles and 77 minutes away, over a mountain route. See [moving at Lake Tahoe in winter](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/guides/moving-at-lake-tahoe-in-winter/) and [mountain passes and winter driving](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/data/mountain-passes/). ## Moving to or from the California side Stateline sits beside South Lake Tahoe, and many older residents cross the state line for care and shopping. A move that ends in California crosses a state line, so it is interstate and runs through O'Brien's federal authority, U.S. DOT No. 30611 and MC-109375. ## A few pieces at a time Seniors moving from a Stateline apartment often keep very little. If you are downsizing further, the crew can pick up a few pieces, and items you are not ready to decide on can sit in a wooden vault, from $40 per month. ## Hotel-casino neighbors and workers Stateline's compact grid of apartments and condominiums sits near casinos and resorts, so streets can be busy and parking limited. The estimator may suggest an early start to find a place for the truck near the door. ## Packing a one-bedroom A smaller home still has many small items. The crew can pack the whole kitchen in a morning, label every carton by room and wrap the furniture. Partial packing is often enough when the family has already sorted. See [partial packing and box-packing only](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/packing/partial-packing/). ## Making the call Reach the office at 775-359-6683 on a weekday.
