The Census place of Sunnyside-Tahoe City has about 1,600 residents and 670 households on the west shore of Lake Tahoe, at about 7,000 feet. About 84 percent of homes are single-family detached, 70 percent are owner-occupied and the median home value in the Census count is about $1 million. ## Where bedrooms add up Of roughly 2,350 homes, about 760 have four or more bedrooms and about 910 have three. In a four-bedroom lake house, the bedrooms are often the largest packing job, because each has a closet, a dresser, bedding and sometimes a seasonal wardrobe. The crew packs closets into wardrobe cartons and bags the mattresses. Public rooms add their own work: a dining room, a great room with a fireplace, and a deck with outdoor furniture. ## Two of every three homes are seasonal That ratio shapes the market. Many Tahoe City packs are for owners who are not there. Access, keys and alarms are arranged ahead of time, and the estimate lists what is packed and what stays. Vaults in our warehouse hold the rest, with vault storage from $40 per month. See [seasonal and second-home storage](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/full-service-storage/seasonal-and-second-home-storage/). - Access arranged ahead of time - Linens and kitchen goods packed for the off-season - Furniture padded and stored - Inventory listing what is in each vault ## Older construction About 69 percent of homes were built before 1980, and the median home dates to 1973. Older lake houses hold older furniture and more of it. The crew pads and wraps, and crates glass or art if needed. See [custom crating](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/packing/custom-crating/). ## Getting there Tahoe City is about 52 miles and 71 minutes from Sparks, via I-80 and CA-89. The road can be slow in winter, and the National Weather Service forecast office in Reno posts mountain conditions. The estimator's visit is scheduled ahead. ## More on the area Tahoe City is part of the [Lake Tahoe and Truckee](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/lake-tahoe-and-truckee/) service area.
