Tahoe City is the main community on the north-west shore of Lake Tahoe, at 7,000 feet in Placer County, California. The Census place that includes it, Sunnyside-Tahoe City, counts about 1,600 residents in roughly 670 households, with a median of 4.9 rooms per home and a median build year of 1973. Seventy percent of homes are owner-occupied and 84 percent are single-family, but the seasonal share is what shapes the work. ## A calendar set by the second-home owner When two thirds of units are seasonal, the delivery calendar looks different from a city's. Furniture is ordered in winter for summer, or delivered after a closing in the fall. A crew may set up a house for owners who are in another city, with a written layout in hand. The estimate records the layout, the access arrangement and who the crew can reach if a question comes up. ## Smaller rooms, older construction A median of 4.9 rooms and a 1973 median build year point to cabins and compact homes where a sectional barely clears the door. Measure the entry and the stairs, and tell the estimator which pieces are close fits. If a bed or table is tight, the crew may need a different path, such as a deck door. ## Holding furniture in Sparks The warehouse in Sparks is 52.1 miles from Tahoe City. Furniture can be received there when it arrives from the maker and held in [vault storage](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/full-service-storage/vault-storage/) from $40 per month until the cabin is ready. Stored goods ship with about 2 to 3 weeks notice. ## Tahoe City delivery examples - Beds and dressers for a rental cabin before the booking season - A dining set for a lake-view great room - Outdoor furniture for decks, placed before summer - Pieces ordered through an interior designer and received at the warehouse first ## Planning around the rental calendar If the cabin is rented in summer and used by the owners in winter, the delivery needs a window between guests. Give the estimator the booking dates and the owner's arrival, and the plan finds the open days. Furniture waits in the warehouse until then, so a changed booking does not mean a changed order. ## Call the office Describe the house and the pieces at 775-359-6683, and an estimator schedules the [free in-home estimate](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/free-estimate/), which includes 10 free heavy-duty boxes. ### Sources (checked October 18, 2026) - [U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020-2024 5-year estimates](https://www.census.gov/data/developers/data-sets/acs-5year.html) - [Placer County, California official site](https://www.placer.ca.gov/) - [Tahoe Regional Planning Agency](https://www.trpa.gov/) ### Licensed movers U.S. DOT No. 30611 MC-109375 Nevada CPCN 1070 Cal PUC T-90973 (as published by O'Brien's) Bekins Van Lines interstate agent since 1955 [Check our USDOT record](https://safer.fmcsa.dot.gov/query.asp?searchtype=ANY&query_type=queryCarrierSnapshot&query_param=USDOT&query_string=30611) · [Ready to Move?
