Truckee is a town of about 17,066 people and 6,860 households at 6,655 feet, and 73.4 percent of homes are owner occupied. Offices here range from remote-work studios and real estate firms to builders and medical practices. Winters shape every schedule, and a business that moves between Reno and Truckee crosses a state line too. ## Four movers in the county, and what to ask each County Business Patterns lists 4 establishments in used household and office goods moving in Nevada County, California in 2023. Whichever mover you choose, ask what the estimate covers, whether it is itemized, and who is on site on the day. O'Brien's gives an itemized written estimate, and an inventory and condition report before packing. A move manager directs commercial crews on site. ## Inside California and across the line O'Brien's is permitted in California for moves within California, under Cal PUC T-90973 (as published by O'Brien's). A Truckee office moving across town or within the state falls there. A move between Truckee and Reno or Sparks crosses into Nevada, so it is interstate and runs under federal authority, U.S. DOT No. 30611 and MC-109375. The estimator explains which applies when the destination is set. ## I-80 and the winter calendar The warehouse is 35.7 miles from Truckee by I-80. Chain controls and storms can close a stretch of the highway, so check Caltrans QuickMap and the National Weather Service forecast the night before. The crew and your contact can agree a backup day when the estimate is written. Evenings, weekends and holidays are available by arrangement. See [after-hours moves](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/commercial-moving/after-hours-and-weekend-moves/). - Check QuickMap the night before - Agree a backup date - Keep elevators and loading areas reserved - Plan for snow at the curb ## Storage between spaces Commercial furniture can ride to the Sparks warehouse and wait in wooden vaults, 7 ft x 7 ft x 5 ft each, from $40 per month. When the new space opens, vaults ship on about 2 to 3 weeks notice. February 20, 2026 We were referred to O'Brien's Moving and Storage though a friend in Reno. We couldn't be more pleased with the Professionalism and Service. They were quick to set up Luke to come out and give us a quote and scheduled the actual move date right away. Luke was on time for our quote as were the movers on our moving day. All three of the gentlemen who moved us were professional and courteous from start to finish. From the initial phone call to the completion of our move, we felt like we were treated as family. We would definitely use them again and recommend O'Brien's Moving and Storage to our friends in the future. ### Owner's reply Francie, Thank you for this amazing review.
