O'Brien's crews pack the whole house or the rooms you pick, with 10 free heavy-duty boxes on the free estimate. or call [775-359-6683](tel:+17753596683) [4.3 on Google · 71 reviews](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/reviews/) Family owned since 1941 [U.S. DOT No. 30611](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/about/licenses-and-authority/) ## Truckee: Homes and rooms - Median rooms per home 5.1 - Single-family detached homes 81.4% - Homes by bedrooms no bedroom: 226, 1: 624, 2: 2,464, 3: 7,139, 4: 2,956, 5+: 575 - Built before 1980 29.8% Data: [U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020-2024 5-year estimates](https://www.census.gov/data/developers/data-sets/acs-5year.html). Truckee, California, has about 17,000 residents and 6,900 households, and about 73 percent of homes are owner-occupied. Of roughly 14,000 homes, about 7,100 have three bedrooms and about 3,500 have four or more. ## The mountain-house pack A Truckee house usually has things most houses do not: ski racks and boots, snowshoes, bikes, wood-stove tools, extra coats, and sometimes a second set of everything. These are awkward shapes, and they go in their own cartons, bags or wraps. The crew groups sports gear by owner and labels it by room. The garage and the mudroom take as many cartons as the kitchen. The estimator counts them on the walk-through. ## Family homes with three or four bedrooms Most homes in Truckee have three bedrooms, and about one in four has four or more. A four-bedroom pack is a multi-day job for a crew. See [full packing](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/packing/full-packing/). A partial pack handles the kitchen and the pictures while the family packs clothes and toys. - Ski and snow gear grouped and labeled - Kitchen and dishes wrapped by the crew - Closets in wardrobe cartons - Furniture padded and wrapped ## Closing a second home Nearly half of Truckee housing is seasonal, so a pack is often for closing a house for the year or selling it. Linens and kitchenware go into cartons and the extra furniture into wooden vaults in our warehouse, with vault storage from $40 per month. See [seasonal and second-home storage](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/full-service-storage/seasonal-and-second-home-storage/). ## The I-80 run Truckee is about 36 miles and 48 minutes from the Sparks warehouse on I-80. The mountain pass can close in winter storms, and the National Weather Service forecast office in Reno posts conditions. Packing days are set with the forecast in mind. ## Packing supplies Boxes and wrap are sold at the Sparks office, Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. The first 10 heavy-duty boxes are free with the estimate. Read about the whole area at [Lake Tahoe and Truckee](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/lake-tahoe-and-truckee/). The Census counts about 6,860 households in Truckee and a median of 5.1 rooms per home, so the estimator sets the crew size from the walk-through. ### Sources (checked October 18, 2026) - [U.S. Census Bureau, ACS 2020-2024 5-year estimates](https://www.census.gov/data/developers/data-sets/acs-5year.html) - [National Weather Service, Reno forecast office](https://www.weather.gov/rev/) - [Town of Truckee](https://www.townoftruckee.gov/) ### Free in-home estimate - An O'Brien's estimator walks through your home - A written, itemized estimate - 10 free heavy-duty boxes, yours to keep [How our estimates work](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/how-our-estimates-work/) ### Visit or call the office 2277 Glendale Ave, Sparks, NV 89431 [775-359-6683](tel:+17753596683) | Monday to Friday | 8:00 am to 5:00 pm | | --- | --- | | Saturday and Sunday | Closed | [Get my free estimate](#estimate) ### Related - [Movers in Truckee](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/truckee/) - [Lake Tahoe and Truckee](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/lake-tahoe-and-truckee/) - [Full packing service](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/packing/full-packing/) - [Seasonal and second-home storage for Tahoe and Truckee owners](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/full-service-storage/seasonal-and-second-home-storage/) Nearby ## The same service in nearby towns - [Packing services in Tahoe City](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/tahoe-city/packing/) - [Packing services in Kings Beach](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/kings-beach/packing/) - [Packing services in South Lake Tahoe](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/south-lake-tahoe/packing/) - [Packing services in Incline Village](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/incline-village/packing/) - [Packing services in Stateline](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/stateline/packing/) - [Packing services in Zephyr Cove](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/zephyr-cove/packing/) - [Movers in Truckee](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/truckee/) In Truckee ## More services in Truckee - [Storage for Truckee households](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/truckee/storage/) - [Senior moves and downsizing in Truckee](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/truckee/senior-moving/) - [Long-distance moving from Truckee](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/truckee/long-distance/) - [Office and commercial moving in Truckee](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/truckee/office-moving/) - [White-glove furniture delivery in Truckee](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/truckee/white-glove-delivery/) Moves within California ## Permitted in California O'Brien's Moving & Storage moves households within California under its own authority: Cal PUC T-90973 (as published by O'Brien's).
