Older owners here often have a house to empty, and the crew plans that job room by room after a free in-home estimate. or call [775-359-6683](tel:+17753596683) [4.3 on Google · 71 reviews](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/reviews/) Family owned since 1941 [U.S. DOT No. 30611](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/about/licenses-and-authority/) ## West Carson City: Age and time in the home - Median age 52.8 - Householders in their home since before 2020 79.7% - Homes owned 72.5% - Median year built 1980 Data: [U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020-2024 5-year estimates](https://www.census.gov/data/developers/data-sets/acs-5year.html). West Carson City, ZIP 89703, climbs into the foothills on the way to the Sierra. The Census counts about 10,700 residents and 4,800 households, with a median age near 52.8 and a median home value of about $626,500, a figure that often shapes how much a family wants to keep. ## An older owner base More than seven in ten homes are owned, and only about 9 percent of residents moved in the past year. Low turnover means many of these households have been in place a long time. The median home was built in 1980, which tells the crew to expect full basements, sheds and storage rooms. A long stay in one house usually means a lot of paper, tools and keepsakes. The estimator sets aside time to look at each of these spaces. ## Foothill streets and loading West Carson City stretches from the valley floor up toward the hills at about 4,878 feet. Streets can be steep, narrow or curved, and a truck needs a clear place to park. The estimator looks at the street, the driveway and the front door during the visit and plans the truck size around them. The city is about 31 miles and 43 minutes from the Sparks warehouse on I-580 and US 395 Business. ## Selling the house after the move Many West Carson City owners sell the house after they leave it. The crew can pack and move the furniture and leave rooms ready for photographs, and the [de-clutter and home-staging help](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/home-staging-and-declutter/) is available for homes going on the market. Items you are unsure about can sit in a wooden vault while the listing goes forward. ## Estate and downsizing storage If the move follows a loss in the family, a relaxed pace matters. Vault storage from $40 per month lets a family decide in stages instead of in a weekend. The estimate is free and includes 10 free heavy-duty boxes, which you can start filling the day it is delivered. ### Sources (checked October 18, 2026) - [U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020-2024 5-year estimates](https://www.census.gov/data/developers/data-sets/acs-5year.html) - [Administration for Community Living, Eldercare Locator](https://eldercare.acl.gov/home) - [Nevada Aging and Disability Services Division](https://www.adsd.nv.gov/) - [FMCSA, Protect Your Move](https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/protect-your-move) ### Free in-home estimate - An O'Brien's estimator walks through your home - A written, itemized estimate - 10 free heavy-duty boxes, yours to keep [How our estimates work](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/how-our-estimates-work/) ### Visit or call the office 2277 Glendale Ave, Sparks, NV 89431 [775-359-6683](tel:+17753596683) | Monday to Friday | 8:00 am to 5:00 pm | | --- | --- | | Saturday and Sunday | Closed | [Get my free estimate](#estimate) ### Related - [Senior moves and downsizing help](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/senior-moving/) - [Movers in West Carson City (89703)](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/west-carson-city/) - [Handling an estate move](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/guides/estate-moves/) - [De-clutter and home-staging furniture help](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/home-staging-and-declutter/) Nearby ## The same service in nearby towns - [Senior moves and downsizing in Minden](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/minden/senior-moving/) - [Senior moves and downsizing in Gardnerville](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/gardnerville/senior-moving/) - [Senior moves and downsizing in Gardnerville Ranchos](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/gardnerville-ranchos/senior-moving/) - [Senior moves and downsizing in Genoa](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/genoa/senior-moving/) - [Senior moves and downsizing in Johnson Lane](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/johnson-lane/senior-moving/) - [Senior moves and downsizing in Indian Hills](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/indian-hills/senior-moving/) - [Movers in West Carson City (89703)](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/west-carson-city/) In West Carson City ## More services in West Carson City - [Packing services in West Carson City (89703)](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/west-carson-city/packing/) - [Storage for West Carson City (89703) households](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/west-carson-city/storage/) - [White-glove furniture delivery in West Carson City (89703)](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/west-carson-city/white-glove-delivery/) Answers ## Senior moves and downsizing in West Carson City (89703) questions Still have a question?
