West Carson City is a ZIP-code area on the western edge of the capital, home to about 10,700 people in around 4,800 households. The Census counts almost 78 percent of its homes as single-family houses and about 72 percent as owner-occupied, which describes a neighborhood of full-size homes with real dining rooms, bedrooms and family rooms. Furniture delivered here is rarely one item. It is usually a room set, a sectional, or the contents of a whole new floor plan. ## Six rooms means a long delivery list A home with a median of 6.1 rooms holds more furniture than a one-item delivery assumes. A crew arriving with a full load needs to know in advance which pieces go upstairs, which go to the back bedrooms and which wait in the garage while a room is cleared. The estimator builds that list with you from the walk-through, and the crew works from it on delivery day. That room-by-room plan is the center of white-glove work. Nobody has to direct traffic in your living room while furniture is coming through the door. ## Hillside lots and long driveways This part of Carson City sits near 4,878 feet and climbs toward the foothills, so driveways can slope and entries can sit a few steps above the street. Those details change how a heavy dresser or a leather sofa is carried, and they are easiest to judge on site. Tell the estimator about every step, gate and tight corner at the front of the house. ## Pieces that call for extra care - Sectionals that come apart into several heavy sections - Dining tables with leaves and matching hutches - Solid wood bedroom sets with tall headboards - Large mirrors and framed art that are set in place, not just carried in - Home-office desks and bookcases that must line up with a particular wall ## Sketching the layout A hand drawing of each room with the furniture positions marked saves time on delivery day. Number the pieces on the order and write the same number on the sketch, so the crew can match each wrapped piece with its spot without asking. The estimator will review the sketch at the visit and suggest changes if a piece will not clear a door. ## Between the store and the house Furniture often arrives at the Sparks warehouse first, 31.4 miles from West Carson City, where it can be checked against the order and held in [vault storage](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/full-service-storage/vault-storage/) until the home is ready. Vault storage starts from $40 per month, and stored goods ship with about 2 to 3 weeks notice. Book the delivery date with the office at 775-359-6683, then expect the crew at your door on that day. ### Sources (checked October 18, 2026) - [U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey 2020-2024 5-year estimates](https://www.census.gov/data/developers/data-sets/acs-5year.html) ### Licensed movers U.S. DOT No. 30611 MC-109375 Nevada CPCN 1070 Cal PUC T-90973 (as published by O'Brien's) Bekins Van Lines interstate agent since 1955 [Check our USDOT record](https://safer.fmcsa.dot.gov/query.asp?searchtype=ANY&query_type=queryCarrierSnapshot&query_param=USDOT&query_string=30611) · [Ready to Move?
