The area sits near 4,744 feet and is mostly older, established housing. or call [775-359-6683](tel:+17753596683) [4.3 on Google · 71 reviews](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/reviews/) Family owned since 1941 [U.S. DOT No. 30611](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/about/licenses-and-authority/) ## West Reno by the numbers - Drive from our Sparks warehouse 5 mi, about 10 min via I-80 - Population 30,249 - Households 13,195 - Homes owned / rented 45.6% / 54.4% - Median year built 1975 - Median home value $467,200 - Moved in the past year 22.2% - Elevation 4,744 ft - County Washoe County - ZIP codes 89503 Figures for ZIP 89503 as a whole. West Reno sits between downtown and the western foothills. Moving here is mostly a question of one road. Interstate 80 is the main route in and out, and the Truckee River runs alongside it, which gives the neighborhood a different feel from the south side's grid of subdivisions. Crews coming from Sparks reach it in a straight shot west. ## One road in, one road out From Glendale Avenue the crew takes I-80 west for about 2 of the 4.9 miles, then local streets. That makes timing the main variable. A crash or construction on the interstate can back up the west side, so the crew leader looks at NVRoads before the truck leaves the yard. The same road leads straight on to Truckee, Tahoe and Sacramento. For a household leaving Nevada, the first mile of the trip is already behind the truck. See [moving to and from Northern California](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/northern-california-moving/). ## Established housing, much of it from before 1980 The Census figures for the surrounding ZIP (89503) show a median year built of 1975, with about 59 percent of homes from before 1980. About 46 percent of households own, and the rest rent houses, duplexes and apartments. The housing is older than on the northwest side described on the [Northwest Reno and Somersett](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/northwest-reno-somersett/) page, where the median home dates from 1999. ## Elevation and weather At about 4,744 feet West Reno is only about 300 feet above the warehouse, so it sees snow on most of the same days as Sparks. The western foothills collect it first. The crew covers floors and keeps doors closed between trips. ## Moving in or out of the area About 34 percent of householders in this ZIP moved in during 2020 or later. People arriving from the west often come with a long-distance Bekins load, and O'Brien's handles the Reno end of that. F Francie H. February 20, 2026 We were referred to O'Brien's Moving and Storage though a friend in Reno. We couldn't be more pleased with the Professionalism and Service. They were quick to set up Luke to come out and give us a quote and scheduled the actual move date right away. Luke was on time for our quote as were the movers on our moving day. All three of the gentlemen who moved us were professional and courteous from start to finish. From the initial phone call to the completion of our move, we felt like we were treated as family. We would definitely use them again and recommend O'Brien's Moving and Storage to our friends in the future. ### Owner's reply Francie, Thank you for this amazing review.
