Yerington is the Lyon County seat, with about 3,150 residents and 1,330 households. About 72 percent of homes are owner-occupied, and the median home has 5.1 rooms. It is also our farthest regular run in this part of Nevada, about 74 miles and nearly two hours from the Sparks warehouse. ## A pack built on years in the house Homes built in the 1960s and 1970s often hold their owners' belongings from the 1980s on. Closets contain more than one era of clothing, kitchens hold sets of dishes from more than one household, and garages hold tools that outlived the projects they were bought for. The estimator counts these by looking, not guessing. With about 610 of roughly 1,380 homes having three bedrooms and about 450 having two, most packs are mid-size houses. They are a day or two of packing for a crew. ## Sorting while packing A pack is a good time to sort. Items that will not make the move can be set aside before the crew arrives, and the crew can pack the rest. If the next home is smaller, the stored overflow goes into wooden vaults, with vault storage from $40 per month. See [estate and downsizing storage](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/full-service-storage/estate-and-downsizing-storage/) and [senior moves and downsizing](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/senior-moving/). - Set aside items to donate before packing day - Keep daily items out until the last day - Tell the estimator what stays in the house - Ask for vaults if the new home is smaller ## Planning around the distance Yerington is about 74 miles from Sparks via US 95A, SR 439 and I-80, about 1 h 59 min. The estimator's visit and the packing days are scheduled together so the crew makes the trip once for each stage. Boxes can be bought in advance at the Sparks office, which is open Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. ## Packing styles Full packing covers every room. Partial packing covers the rooms you choose. Box packing only covers packing without a move. The estimator writes your choice on the estimate. Read more on the [full packing](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/packing/full-packing/) page. ## Packing for a long-distance move When a Yerington household moves out of state, the crew packs for the trip and makes an itemized inventory and condition report before packing. The move runs through the Bekins network. September 28, 2025 The two employees showed up on time and were very polite and ready to work. Our quote was 8 hours and they finished in 5 hours. Office staff checked in prior to move and confirmed all details and check in after move to make sure everything was taken care of. Would use this company again for sure! ### Owner's reply Laurie, Thank you for the awesome review! We are glad to hear everything went smoothly, and you were satisfied with the service. We want to also thank you for your business we appreciate you! N Nicole B. June 25, 2025 The crew worked extremely hard and treated our belongings with care. Customer service was outstanding leading up to, during, and after move. Thank you! S Sonia P. August 4, 2023 Talk about organized people. I peeked in the truck about an hour into the job and was amazed at how well organized it was and how many of my things had protective coverings. Our bed is a mechanical one and a nightmare to us, but these guys had no issue with it at all. Although I have no desire to ever move again--but if I did, I would be calling these guys for sure!!! ## Get your free, in-home moving estimate An estimator visits, walks through everything and gives you a written, itemized estimate.
