Zephyr Cove has about 560 residents and 280 households on the east shore of Lake Tahoe, at about 7,300 feet. About 79 percent of homes are single-family detached, and the median home has 6 rooms and was built in 1972. The median home value in the Census count is about $1.75 million. ## Lake houses with a long history A house built in the early 1970s that has been a family's lake house since then holds a lot: furniture from several generations, boat gear, ski equipment, linens by the dozen, and a kitchen of mismatched sets. The estimator takes these as they are and writes the carton count room by room. Because more than half of homes here are seasonal, some packs are done when the house is empty of people. Keys, alarms and access are handled with the owner ahead of time. ## Closing up for the season A seasonal pack is different from a final move. Linens, kitchen goods and valuables are boxed, and furniture that should not freeze or fade is padded and stored. Vaults in our warehouse hold it, with vault storage from $40 per month. See [seasonal and second-home storage](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/full-service-storage/seasonal-and-second-home-storage/). - Linens and kitchen goods boxed - Furniture padded and wrapped - Art and mirrors in picture cartons - Boat and ski gear grouped and labeled ## Older homes, older pieces Furniture and art in lake houses of this age may be worth wrapping carefully. The crew pads and wraps furniture and builds custom crates for glass, art and antiques. See [custom crating](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/packing/custom-crating/). ## Getting to the lake Zephyr Cove is about 53 miles and 72 minutes from Sparks via I-580 and US 50. Winter weather can affect travel on the mountain roads, and the National Weather Service forecast office in Reno posts conditions. The estimator's visit is scheduled ahead. ## Supplies Boxes and supplies are sold at the Sparks office. See [Lake Tahoe and Truckee](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/lake-tahoe-and-truckee/) for the area. The Census counts about 284 households in Zephyr Cove and a median of 6 rooms per home, so the estimator walks each room with you before packing day. ### Sources (checked October 18, 2026) - [U.S. Census Bureau, ACS 2020-2024 5-year estimates](https://www.census.gov/data/developers/data-sets/acs-5year.html) - [National Weather Service, Reno forecast office](https://www.weather.gov/rev/) - [Douglas County, Nevada](https://www.douglascountynv.gov/) ### Free in-home estimate - An O'Brien's estimator walks through your home - A written, itemized estimate - 10 free heavy-duty boxes, yours to keep [How our estimates work](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/how-our-estimates-work/) ### Visit or call the office 2277 Glendale Ave, Sparks, NV 89431 [775-359-6683](tel:+17753596683) | Monday to Friday | 8:00 am to 5:00 pm | | --- | --- | | Saturday and Sunday | Closed | [Get my free estimate](#estimate) ### Related - [Movers in Zephyr Cove](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/zephyr-cove/) - [Lake Tahoe and Truckee](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/lake-tahoe-and-truckee/) - [Custom crating for art, glass, antiques and machinery](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/packing/custom-crating/) - [Seasonal and second-home storage for Tahoe and Truckee owners](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/full-service-storage/seasonal-and-second-home-storage/) Nearby ## The same service in nearby towns - [Packing services in Truckee](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/truckee/packing/) - [Packing services in Tahoe City](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/tahoe-city/packing/) - [Packing services in Kings Beach](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/kings-beach/packing/) - [Packing services in South Lake Tahoe](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/south-lake-tahoe/packing/) - [Packing services in Incline Village](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/incline-village/packing/) - [Packing services in Stateline](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/stateline/packing/) - [Movers in Zephyr Cove](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/zephyr-cove/) In Zephyr Cove ## More services in Zephyr Cove - [Storage for Zephyr Cove households](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/zephyr-cove/storage/) - [Senior moves and downsizing in Zephyr Cove](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/zephyr-cove/senior-moving/) - [White-glove furniture delivery in Zephyr Cove](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/zephyr-cove/white-glove-delivery/) Answers ## Packing services in Zephyr Cove questions Still have a question?
