The in-home estimate is free and includes 10 free heavy-duty boxes. or call [775-359-6683](tel:+17753596683) [4.3 on Google · 71 reviews](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/reviews/) Family owned since 1941 [U.S. DOT No. 30611](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/about/licenses-and-authority/) Long distance means your shipment crosses state lines or goes far enough that it rides with a national carrier's network. Bekins was founded in 1891, and O'Brien's has represented it in Northern Nevada for more than 70 years. You deal with a local family at 2277 Glendale Ave in Sparks, and the Bekins network carries the shipment. ## At a glance - Bekins Van Lines agent since 1955 - Priced by weight, from a written estimate - Itemized inventory and condition report before packing - Packing, storage and delivery can be added ## How a long-distance move is priced Long-distance shipments are priced by weight, so the estimator's job is to judge how many pounds you have. That means walking every room, opening closets and looking at the garage and attic. The estimate you receive is itemized and in writing. Federal rules shape the paperwork. A binding estimate fixes the price for the goods listed. With a non-binding estimate, 49 CFR Part 375 limits what a mover may require at delivery to 110 percent of the estimate, and the balance is billed afterward. Read [binding and non-binding estimates](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/guides/binding-vs-non-binding-estimates/) before you choose. ## What O'Brien's does on a Bekins move O'Brien's handles the Reno end: the in-home estimate, packing when you want it, loading, and storage in Sparks if your new home is not ready. Customers have used the Sparks warehouse for months between homes. One reviewer wrote that her belongings "were in storage in Reno for approximately three months" before delivery (Cathy G.). Before packing begins, the crew builds an itemized inventory with the condition of your goods, and you sign it. It is the document you compare against at delivery. ## Pick the pieces you want Some customers want a hands-free move from the first box to the last. Others want packing help only, or a crew to load a truck they arranged themselves. Long-distance service is modular, so you can choose pieces and the estimate lists them. - Full packing, partial packing or box packing only - Custom crating for art, glass and antiques - Vault storage in Sparks before or after the trip - Auto transport with your move ## Your delivery window Your delivery window comes from your written estimate and the Bekins dispatch plan, not from a promise made over the phone. Use our [route lookup](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/tools/route-lookup/) to see the drive distance from Reno to your destination, and read [pickup and delivery spreads](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/guides/delivery-spread-explained/) to understand how multi-day windows work. ## Authority and consumer protections O'Brien's carries U.S. DOT No. 30611 and MC-109375, and anyone can verify them on the FMCSA SAFER site. FMCSA publishes the booklet Ready to Move? and the Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move guide, which every long-distance customer should read. On an interstate move the Bekins network carries your shipment under the van line's interstate system; O'Brien's books the move in either direction. Leaving Northern Nevada, we give the free in-home estimate, pack, store in our Sparks warehouse if you need it, and load. Moving here from another state, you book with us and we coordinate the move from your origin through the Bekins network, then handle delivery, unpacking and storage in Sparks.
