The interest and dividends tax was repealed for taxable periods beginning after December 31, 2024. The state has no general sales tax; its Meals and Rooms Tax is 8.5 percent on restaurant meals, lodging and motor vehicle rentals. Housing is where the difference shows up. A tax professional can explain property taxes, which fund local services, and whether any part-year filing applies to your move. ## Housing and income in the Census The Census American Community Survey lists New Hampshire's median household income at 99,031 dollars, its median gross rent at 1,491 dollars a month and its median home value at 402,500 dollars. About 27 percent of households rent. Concord is the capital, and the statewide median age is 43.3. The Census does not show a measurable number of New Hampshire residents moving to Nevada in the 2024 survey, but about 685 Nevadans moved the other way.
