Ventura sits on the coast 100 feet above sea level, and the way to Reno runs east on CA 126, then north the full length of I-5 through the Central Valley. It is a Southern California route that uses I-5 for most of its length. ## CA 126, I-5 and I-80 The route block shows 40 miles of CA 126 through the Santa Clara River valley, 344 miles of I-5 across the Grapevine and the west side of the San Joaquin Valley, 124 miles of I-80, and 11 miles of I-80 Business at Sacramento. The road distance is 524 miles against 365 in a straight line. I-5 runs through long stretches of farmland with few exits, so trucks plan fuel and rest. At more than 500 miles the move assumes two driving days.
