Storage you arrange yourself is separate, and O'Brien's offers vault storage from $40 per month in Sparks. or call [775-359-6683](tel:+17753596683) [4.3 on Google · 71 reviews](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/reviews/) Family owned since 1941 [U.S. DOT No. 30611](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/about/licenses-and-authority/) Orders sometimes send you somewhere your furniture cannot follow right away, such as an overseas post or a short tour. Storage fills that gap. Two kinds exist, and it helps to keep them apart. ## What NTS is and who decides Non-temporary storage means storing household goods for a longer stretch while a service member is posted somewhere the goods cannot go. Whether it is authorized for your move depends on your orders and your entitlements, so the answer comes from your installation transportation office or Personal Property Office, not from a mover. Ask your counselor to confirm, in writing if possible, what storage your orders include. ## Storage you arrange yourself Some families need storage the orders do not cover: a gap between leases, a house sale that closes late, or goods you want to keep nearby and reachable. That storage is a private arrangement with the facility you choose. It is billed by that facility, under its own terms. ## How vault storage works at O'Brien's O'Brien's is DOD approved to move and store military household goods. Our Sparks warehouse covers 30,000 sq ft and holds household goods in wooden vaults, 7 ft x 7 ft x 5 ft. Vault storage starts from $40 per month, for short or long terms. To ship stored goods out, give about 2 to 3 weeks notice. The full-service part matters: the crew packs, loads and places goods in vaults, and the same crew can deliver them when you are ready. See [how vault storage works](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/full-service-storage/vault-storage/) and [long-term household storage](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/full-service-storage/long-term-storage/). ## Questions to ask before storing - Does my counselor confirm storage under my orders, and for how long? - What inventory and condition report do I receive? - How much notice is needed to ship my goods out? - Who do I call if my orders change? - Which items need special handling, such as a piano or fine art? ## Keep the paperwork together Whichever storage you use, keep the inventory, the condition report and the storage agreement in one folder, with photos of your valuables. If orders change, send the new dates to everyone involved the same day. For a call about storage you arrange yourself, reach the office at 775-359-6683, Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. A free in-home estimate comes with 10 free heavy-duty boxes. ### Sources (checked October 18, 2026) - [Military OneSource, Preparing to Move](https://www.militaryonesource.mil/moving-pcs/plan-to-move/) - [NAVSUP, Personally Procured Move handout](https://www.navsup.navy.mil/Portals/65/HHG/Documents/PPM/PPM%20Handout%20V.13.pdf) ### Licensed movers U.S. DOT No. 30611 MC-109375 Nevada CPCN 1070 Cal PUC T-90973 (as published by O'Brien's) Bekins Van Lines interstate agent since 1955 [Check our USDOT record](https://safer.fmcsa.dot.gov/query.asp?searchtype=ANY&query_type=queryCarrierSnapshot&query_param=USDOT&query_string=30611) · [Ready to Move?
