Do not carry that number with you. Nevada expects new residents to be registered and licensed within 30 days, so the schedule tightens right when you are unpacking boxes. Before you leave, cancel or transfer your Connecticut registration through your insurer and the DMV, and ask your town assessor about the motor vehicle property tax bill for the year you depart, since Connecticut towns tax cars locally. ## Seven brackets, then none Connecticut's income tax has seven brackets running from 3 percent to a top marginal rate of 6.99 percent, and its state sales tax is 6.35 percent with no local sales taxes added. Nevada has no state personal income tax on wages. If you work remotely for a Connecticut employer, your employer's payroll setup may need updating the day you change your address, so tell human resources early. A final part-year Connecticut return is normal in the year of the move.
