The state sales tax is 6 percent, with another 1 percent in Allegheny County and 2 percent in Philadelphia. Nevada charges no state personal income tax, so the difference shows up in the income line more than the sales line. Local earned income taxes also apply in many Pennsylvania municipalities, and a tax professional can sort out your own mix. ## The Census view The 2020 to 2024 American Community Survey lists Pennsylvania at about 13.02 million people, a median household income of $77,971, median gross rent of $1,209 and a median home value of $254,500; 30.7 percent of households rent. The 2024 state-to-state estimate counts about 2,382 people who moved from Pennsylvania to Nevada, with a wide margin of error.
