Same state, same tax system and same DMV, but the desert and the high desert feel different once you are living there. ## Weather: desert heat against four seasons NOAA's 1991 to 2020 normals show Las Vegas averaging a January high of 58.0 F and a July high of 103.8 F, with 3.99 inches of precipitation a year. Reno's airport averages 47.7 F in January and 93.9 F in July, with 7.35 inches of precipitation and 20.9 inches of snow. In practice, Las Vegas movers deal with heat on moving day, and Reno movers deal with cold mornings and the occasional storm.
