From the warehouse in Sparks, the crew can reach Fernley and Fallon to the east, Lovelock and Winnemucca along Interstate 80, Elko beyond them, and Tonopah to the south. Las Vegas is also on our Google listing as part of the Nevada service area. ## At a glance - Nevada Transportation Authority CPCN 1070 - Reno and Sparks to rural Nevada and Las Vegas - Packing, storage and delivery available - Free in-home estimate ## The authority behind an in-state move Moving household goods within Nevada requires a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity from the Nevada Transportation Authority under NRS Chapter 706. The NTA published a notice in January 2018 naming O'Brien's Moving & Storage, Inc. as a household goods mover under CPCN 1070. Intrastate movers charge from a tariff approved by the NTA, and the tariff is a public document. ## Where in-state moves go The most common Nevada moves from Reno and Sparks go to Carson City, the Carson Valley, Fernley and Fallon, and moves also run to Elko, Winnemucca, Lovelock and Tonopah. The pages for [rural Nevada](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/rural-nevada/) and [Fernley, Fallon and Lyon County](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/fernley-fallon-and-lyon-county/) describe those towns. For the long haul south, see [Reno to Las Vegas](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/long-distance-moving/routes/reno-to-las-vegas/) and [Las Vegas to Reno](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/long-distance-moving/routes/las-vegas-to-reno/). ## Distances on Nevada highways Winter and wildfire season both change travel plans in Nevada. Interstate 80 carries most east-west traffic, and US 395 and US 95 carry most north-south traffic. The Nevada Department of Transportation posts road conditions at NVRoads, and your crew lead checks them before a long haul. Use the [route lookup](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/tools/route-lookup/) for the drive distance between Reno and your destination. ## What the estimate covers Your estimator visits the home, itemizes the contents and writes up the estimate. A move across Nevada can also include packing, crating, storage in Sparks and unloading at the other end. Ask the estimator how the move will be priced and what the crew will do at each address. ## Moves that cross the state line A move that leaves Nevada for California or any other state is an interstate move under federal authority, U.S. DOT No. 30611 and MC-109375. Read [interstate moving](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/interstate-moving/) for those rules. ### Sources (checked October 18, 2026) - [Nevada Transportation Authority](https://nta.nv.gov/) - [Nevada Legislature, NRS Chapter 706 (motor carriers)](https://www.leg.state.nv.us/nrs/nrs-706.html) - [Nevada DOT, NVRoads travel information](https://www.nvroads.com/) ### Free in-home estimate - An O'Brien's estimator walks through your home - A written, itemized estimate - 10 free heavy-duty boxes, yours to keep [How our estimates work](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/how-our-estimates-work/) ### Visit or call the office 2277 Glendale Ave, Sparks, NV 89431 [775-359-6683](tel:+17753596683) | Monday to Friday | 8:00 am to 5:00 pm | | --- | --- | | Saturday and Sunday | Closed | [Get my free estimate](#estimate) ### Related - [Elko, Winnemucca and rural Nevada](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/rural-nevada/) - [Moving from Reno to Las Vegas](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/long-distance-moving/routes/reno-to-las-vegas/) - [Fernley, Fallon and Lyon County](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/areas/fernley-fallon-and-lyon-county/) - [Free in-home moving estimate (plus 10 free heavy-duty boxes)](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/free-estimate/) ## In this section 8 - [### Moving between Reno and Henderson Reno to Henderson is about 446 miles and roughly 9 hours of driving, mostly on US-95 and finishing on I-11, and O'Brien's carries it under its own...](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/nevada-in-state-moving/reno-henderson/) - [### Moving between Reno and Pahrump Pahrump is about 384 miles and 7 h 36 min of driving from the O'Brien's yard in Sparks, by way of US-95 and SR 160, and the move is carried...](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/nevada-in-state-moving/reno-pahrump/) - [### Moving between Reno and Mesquite Mesquite is about 487 miles and 9 h 30 min of driving from the Sparks yard, one of the longest in-state runs, and O'Brien's carries it under its own Nevada CPCN 1070.](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/nevada-in-state-moving/reno-mesquite/) - [### Moving between Reno and Boulder City Boulder City is about 464 miles and 9 h 30 min of driving from the O'Brien's yard in Sparks, on US-95 and I-11, and the move is covered by O'Brien's own Nevada CPCN 1070.](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/nevada-in-state-moving/reno-boulder-city/) - [### Moving between Reno and Ely Ely is about 319 miles and 6 h 18 min of driving from the Sparks yard, mostly on US-50, and O'Brien's carries the move under its own Nevada CPCN 1070.](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/nevada-in-state-moving/reno-ely/) - [### Moving between Reno and Hawthorne Hawthorne is about 125 miles and 2 h 42 min of driving from the O'Brien's yard in Sparks, a short Nevada run, and the move falls under O'Brien's own CPCN 1070 authority.](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/nevada-in-state-moving/reno-hawthorne/) - [### Moving between Reno and Battle Mountain Battle Mountain is about 218 miles and 3 h 36 min of driving from the Sparks yard, nearly all of it on I-80, and O'Brien's carries the move...](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/nevada-in-state-moving/reno-battle-mountain/) - [### Moving between Reno and West Wendover West Wendover is about 394 miles and 6 h 30 min of driving from the Sparks yard, almost all on I-80, and a move that ends there is covered...](https://obriensmoving-storage.com/nevada-in-state-moving/reno-west-wendover/) Answers ## Moving within Nevada (our own CPCN 1070 authority) questions Still have a question? If I have another move, it will be O'Brien for sure!! ### Owner's reply WE ARE THRILLED TO HEAR THE MOVE WENT SO WELL!!!! Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to let us know. F Francie H. February 20, 2026 We were referred to O'Brien's Moving and Storage though a friend in Reno. We couldn't be more pleased with the Professionalism and Service. They were quick to set up Luke to come out and give us a quote and scheduled the actual move date right away. Luke was on time for our quote as were the movers on our moving day. All three of the gentlemen who moved us were professional and courteous from start to finish. From the initial phone call to the completion of our move, we felt like we were treated as family. We would definitely use them again and recommend O'Brien's Moving and Storage to our friends in the future. ### Owner's reply Francie, Thank you for this amazing review.
