Storage for military households near Reno and Sparks

A military move has more moving parts than most. Orders arrive on a schedule, a government shipment follows its own paperwork, and storage may be authorized for part of it. How military storage is booked

Government-funded moves are arranged through the installation transportation office, often called the Personal Property Office, and through the Defense Personal Property System (DPS); Military OneSource explains the steps. Your counselor explains what your orders authorize. A move you plan and pay for yourself, called a personal procured move or PPM, requires orders but not a government booking.

What the Sparks warehouse offers

Household goods go into wooden vaults measuring 7 ft x 7 ft x 5 ft in the O'Brien's warehouse. Vault storage starts from $40 per month, and an itemized inventory travels with every shipment. Goods are ready to ship with about 2 to 3 weeks notice.

When service members need storage

Typical cases are an overseas tour, a long school or deployment, a gap between housing assignments, or a move to a place where on-base housing is small. In each, a service member can keep furniture in a safe place instead of selling it. The military moving page covers the full service.
