Dormitory and student-housing furniture installation
O'Brien's receives, stores and installs dormitory furniture so every room is furnished before students arrive. The 30,000 square foot Sparks warehouse holds the order until the building is ready, and 775-359-6683 reaches an estimator.
Student housing has the hardest deadline in the furniture business. Move-in day is fixed on the calendar months ahead, the building is rarely finished early, and a hundred identical rooms need a hundred identical sets of furniture in the right places. A logistics partner earns its keep in the last few weeks before that date.

Why dormitory jobs are different
Dorm furniture is repetitive by design: a bed, a desk, a chair, a wardrobe or dresser, repeated down every hallway. That sounds simple, and it is, until a mixed-up pallet puts the wrong desk on the wrong floor. The fix is sorting at the warehouse, before the truck is loaded, so each delivery matches a floor or a wing.
Common areas add variety: lounge seating, study tables, laundry-room fixtures and front-desk pieces. These ride in the same plan but are staged separately.
From pallet to finished room
The sequence below is the shape of most dormitory projects. Your estimator adjusts it to your site and your calendar.
Vendor freight arrives in Sparks and is checked in
Pieces are sorted by building, floor and room type
The warehouse holds the order until the site is released
Trucks deliver in the sequence the install plan sets
Crews place each set and clear the cartons
Who calls
Colleges and universities, private student-housing owners, property managers and the contractors who build for them. Facilities offices that replace furniture every summer use the same service in smaller batches. A refresh of one residence hall is as welcome as a new building.

Planning the estimate
Call the office between 8 am and 5 pm on a weekday. Have the room count, the pieces per room, vendor ship dates, the date keys are released, and the date students arrive. Mention elevators, stairs and any campus rules for truck access, because those shape how many crews are needed on the day.
Commercial crews can work evenings, weekends and holidays by arrangement, which helps when a campus restricts deliveries during class hours. For a view of how the whole FF&E service fits together, see the FF&E overview, or compare with apartment model rooms, which use the same install approach on a smaller scale.
The two employees showed up on time and were very polite and ready to work. Our quote was 8 hours and they finished in 5 hours. Office staff checked in prior to move and confirmed all details and check in after move to make sure everything was taken care of. Would use this company again for sure!
