O'Brien's helps older adults and their families move to a smaller home, an apartment or a senior living community, with packing, careful transport, storage and set-up. The in-home estimate is free and includes 10 free heavy-duty boxes.
Moving later in life is rarely only about boxes. There are decades of belongings to sort, family members who live in other cities, and a new home with less space. A senior move works best when someone breaks the job into small steps and does the lifting. That is what the crew and the estimators aim to do.

A move planned in stages
The estimator visits first, sees the home and talks through the plan with you and with family. A common plan is to sort in the weeks before, decide what goes to the new place and what is stored or shared with family, and then let the crew pack the rest. A reviewer whose furniture went to Portland wrote that "everything was done for us" (Tonie C.).
Furniture can wait in a wooden vault in our Sparks warehouse while a home is listed or a room is made ready. See estate and downsizing storage. Vault storage starts from $40 per month, and about 2 to 3 weeks notice is needed to ship stored goods.

Moving into senior living
Communities often have rules about elevator times, loading docks and move-in days. Tell the estimator which community you are joining, and ask the staff there about their requirements. O'Brien's also installs furniture for senior living communities, so the crews are used to working in those buildings. Read moving a parent to assisted living for family-focused advice.

The Eldercare Locator, run by the Administration for Community Living, connects older adults and caregivers with local services. Call O'Brien's at 775-359-6683 on a weekday between 8 am and 5 pm when you are ready for an estimate.
Extremely happy with the moving experience. The moving team showed up on time, friendly and polite. They did a wonderful job moving our boxes and furniture to the new location. Talk about organized people. I peeked in the truck about an hour into the job and was amazed at how well organized it was and how many of my things had protective coverings. Our bed is a mechanical one and a nightmare to us, but these guys had no issue with it at all. Although I have no desire to ever move again--but if I did, I would be calling these guys for sure!!!
