For many families the airport decides how connected a new city feels. Reno has a mid-sized airport that handles the Sierra visitor traffic and a regular schedule of nonstop flights, and it is easy to reach from both Reno and Sparks.
What the airport offers
According to Reno-Tahoe International's own website, ten airlines serve the region, with 20 or more nonstop destinations including seasonal routes and more than 130 arrivals and departures a day. Year-round nonstop service to Nashville on Southwest was among the recent announcements. Routes change with the seasons, so check the airport's flight schedule before you plan a trip.
The airport offers long-term garage reservations, with rates that apply after six hours, which suits trips home during the first year.

Where it is
RNO sits in the southeast part of the city near I-580, which is the 89502 area of our southeast Reno page. It is close to the Sparks warehouse and the Glendale corridor. Ramp work and storm closures are posted on the airport's site and on NDOT's road reports; see moving in winter.
If you are weighing a flight against the drive from Sacramento, the road over Donner Summit is covered in Reno vs Sacramento.
Flying in while your goods drive
Many families fly to Reno ahead of the truck. O'Brien's coordinates moves into Nevada from other states through the Bekins network: you book with O'Brien's, and we coordinate it from your origin, then deliver, unpack and store in Sparks. Your written estimate sets the delivery window. Keep a bag with essentials for the first days; the first-night box guide lists what to include.
Households that arrive before their furniture can use vault storage from $40 per month at the Sparks warehouse, then schedule delivery to the new address.
Traveling with kids, pets and stuff
Airlines set their own rules for pets and bags, so confirm them with the airline before you fly. If you are bringing a dog to Washoe County, license it after arrival; see moving pets to Washoe County. Cars can be shipped as part of a move; see auto transport.
