Moving from Colorado Springs to Reno

Census counts put the flow from El Paso County, Colorado to Washoe County at about 43 people a year (2016-2020), against about 95 moving the other way. Colorado as a whole sent about 3,886 people to Nevada in 2024. The Springs is also a military town, and many of its households are on orders rather than choosing a place.

The drive: I-25, US 287 and I-80

The truck takes I-25 north for about 130 miles, passing through the Denver area, then US 287 for about 46 miles toward Wyoming, and a short county road connector of about 5 miles. From there I-80 runs about 902 miles across southern Wyoming, Utah and Nevada to Sparks. The total is about 1,102 miles.

At 500 miles a day the map says three days behind the wheel, with a free-flow time of 18 h 36 min. The Colorado portion is the busy one, with Front Range traffic around Denver, and WYDOT's I-80 section is the exposed one. Southern Wyoming is high, windy and prone to winter closures, which can add time no map shows. Your written estimate sets the delivery window.
