A New Hampshire move is a different conversation from a New York or New Jersey one. Neither New Hampshire nor Nevada taxes wages, so the reasons to cross the country are usually housing, climate or family rather than a paycheck.
The New Hampshire tax picture
New Hampshire has no income tax on reported W-2 wages, and its tax on interest and dividends was repealed for taxable periods after December 31, 2024. There is no general sales tax; the state's Meals and Rooms tax is 8.5 percent on restaurant meals, lodging and vehicle rentals. Nevada also has no state personal income tax, so for many households the swing factors are property tax, sales tax and the cost of the home itself, which our cost of living page compares.
Housing numbers from the Census
The 2020 to 2024 American Community Survey lists New Hampshire at about 1.39 million people, a median household income of $99,031, median gross rent of $1,491 and a median home value of $402,500, with 27.2 percent of households renting. Closing out New Hampshire
The state's DMV says that someone who makes New Hampshire home and drives there must register the vehicle and get a New Hampshire license within 60 days. Going the other way, hand in plates as your insurer requires, cancel local registrations and ask your town clerk about the final vehicle registration. Many towns run on limited town clerk hours, so call ahead.

Talk about organized people. I peeked in the truck about an hour into the job and was amazed at how well organized it was and how many of my things had protective coverings. Our bed is a mechanical one and a nightmare to us, but these guys had no issue with it at all. Although I have no desire to ever move again--but if I did, I would be calling these guys for sure!!!
