Maryland requires new residents to get a license, title and registration within 60 days, and its top state rate is 6.5 percent on taxable income above $1,000,000. Nevada has no state personal income tax and a 30-day window.
Maryland movers often start in the Baltimore or Washington suburbs, in homes with tight driveways and parking rules. These notes cover Maryland's rules and what the move to Nevada changes.

The Maryland 60 days
The Maryland MVA says you must obtain your Maryland driver's license and vehicle title and registration within 60 days of becoming a Maryland resident. That applies to people arriving. Leaving, keep the Maryland title and registration for the Nevada DMV and cancel Maryland plates after Nevada's are issued.
Maryland county and city governments may also have permits for parking and for trucks on moving day; ask your landlord or HOA.
State rates, county rates and none
Maryland's graduated state rates reach 6.5 percent on taxable income over $1,000,000 for single filers, and the state sales tax is 6 percent. Maryland counties and Baltimore City also add a local income tax, which is why a Maryland tax bill includes more than the state rate. Nevada collects neither on wages. Ask a tax professional about the part-year return.
You book the move with O'Brien's, and we coordinate it from your Maryland home through the Bekins network. Baltimore is a common starting point, and the Baltimore to Reno route page gives the drive and both-end numbers. Our Sparks crews deliver and unpack. Your written estimate sets the delivery window.
Rowhouse and apartment moves need building rules reviewed in advance. The moving-day tips guide lists items to confirm with a building manager.

Nevada, briefly
Nevada wants a license and registration within 30 days and does not tax wages at the state level. The moving to Reno guide has the rest.
A federal or military household
Many Maryland households have federal jobs. A military household goods move runs through the installation transportation office and DPS, and O'Brien's is DOD approved to move and store military household goods; see military moving. A civilian move is booked directly with O'Brien's.
How a long-distance move works with a Bekins agent
O'Brien's Moving & Storage has been an agent for Bekins Van Lines since 1955. On an interstate move the Bekins network carries your shipment under the van line's interstate system; O'Brien's books the move in either direction. Leaving Northern Nevada, we give the free in-home estimate, pack, store in our Sparks warehouse if you need it, and load. Moving here from another state, you book with us and we coordinate the move from your origin through the Bekins network, then handle delivery, unpacking and storage in Sparks. Your written estimate sets the delivery window. What being a Bekins agent means.

3 O'Brien movers came down from Reno to South Lake Tahoe to assist our company moving a lot of big furniture out of a large warehouse. They showed up on-time, were friendly, and were professional and got the job done quickly and diligently. Will definitely use them again.
