O'Brien's moves refrigerators, washers, dryers, ranges and other household appliances as part of a move or on their own. Your free in-home estimate also brings 10 free heavy-duty boxes to keep.
Appliances are the heaviest items in the house after the piano, and unlike a piano they have hoses, cords, gas lines and doors that can all do harm when they swing loose. A refrigerator on a dolly in the wrong hands damages floors, door frames and the appliance itself. Preparing each one the right way is half the job.

Preparing each appliance
Each type has its own checklist. Refrigerators and freezers should be emptied, defrosted and dried the day before, with shelves and drawers taped or removed. Washers need their hoses drained and their shipping bolts or locks fitted, if the manual calls for them. Dryers need the vent hose off. Ranges and dishwashers need the plumber or gas fitter to disconnect them, since gas and water lines are trade work.
Refrigerators: empty, defrost and dry them
Washers: drain hoses and secure the drum
Dryers: disconnect vent hose and cord
Gas ranges: have a qualified person cap the line
Protecting your home on the way out
Floors and door frames take most of the damage in an appliance move. Reviewers have noticed how crews handle that, such as one who wrote that the movers “actually laid down carpet runners so they would not track dust in and out.” (Thomas W., Google) Mention narrow doors, tile floors and stairs so the plan includes the protection.
Which appliances go with you
Not every appliance travels. Built-ins and anything sold with the house stay put, and some owners prefer to replace an old unit at the new address. The estimator needs a clear list at the visit. Appliances count in the weight of a long-distance shipment, which is priced by weight, so an old second refrigerator in the garage affects the total.

The two employees showed up on time and were very polite and ready to work. Our quote was 8 hours and they finished in 5 hours. Office staff checked in prior to move and confirmed all details and check in after move to make sure everything was taken care of. Would use this company again for sure!

Talk about organized people. I peeked in the truck about an hour into the job and was amazed at how well organized it was and how many of my things had protective coverings. Our bed is a mechanical one and a nightmare to us, but these guys had no issue with it at all. Although I have no desire to ever move again--but if I did, I would be calling these guys for sure!!!
