Moving a warehouse means moving racks, pallets, tools and the order in which everything is found. A good move keeps the old site shipping until the last day and the new site receiving on the first. O'Brien's runs its own warehouse and truck yard at 2277 Glendale Ave, so the crews that plan your move know what a working dock looks like.

What a warehouse move covers

Typical jobs include shelving and racking, pallets of stock, shop equipment, workbenches, office areas inside the building and yard items that travel on a truck. Some of it is dismantled and rebuilt. Some rolls on pallet jacks. Some goes on the truck in its own crate.

Your estimator walks the building and records heights, doors, dock arrangements and floor surfaces, so the crew arrives with the right equipment. Write down which items stay behind, which are sold and which are scrapped, because those decisions change the size of the truck and the number of hands.

Keeping operations running

The move date should fit your shipping calendar. Commercial crews work evenings, weekends and holidays by arrangement, so a move can start when the last truck leaves on Friday. Moves can be phased, area by area, with each zone live at the new site before the next one closes at the old one. Label pallet locations at both ends so receiving staff can put stock away without guessing.

Forklift safety

Powered industrial trucks are common in warehouse work, and OSHA requires trained operators under its rules at 29 CFR 1910.178. Make sure anyone working near equipment follows posted safety directions. The O'Brien's move manager coordinates with your site supervisor about traffic paths and work zones.

Staging, storage and overflow

When one site closes before the other opens, stock can wait in the Sparks warehouse. See commercial storage for short-term and long-term options. Pieces such as presses and machinery may need custom crating.

What customers say about O'Brien's

Francie H.

We were referred to O'Brien's Moving and Storage though a friend in Reno. We couldn't be more pleased with the Professionalism and Service. They were quick to set up Luke to come out and give us a quote and scheduled the actual move date right away. Luke was on time for our quote as were the movers on our moving day. All three of the gentlemen who moved us were professional and courteous from start to finish. From the initial phone call to the completion of our move, we felt like we were treated as family. We would definitely use them again and recommend O'Brien's Moving and Storage to our friends in the future.

3 O'Brien movers came down from Reno to South Lake Tahoe to assist our company moving a lot of big furniture out of a large warehouse. They showed up on-time, were friendly, and were professional and got the job done quickly and diligently. Will definitely use them again.
