Florida's 10-day rule and why it matters before you go

Florida's Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles department says new residents must title and register vehicles within 10 days of establishing residency and obtain a Florida license within 30 days. For a Floridian leaving, the lesson is to have your vehicle titles, insurance papers and a copy of your Florida registration in your carry-on documents folder, because Nevada will ask for them.

Taxes: no income tax at either end

Florida levies no personal income tax, and its state sales tax rate is 6 percent, with county surtaxes added by the Florida Department of Revenue. Nevada also collects no state personal income tax. That means a Florida household will not see a jump in take-home pay from the move the way a California household would; compare housing and sales tax instead.
