Arizona sets no grace period
The Arizona Department of Transportation says that if you bring a vehicle from another state you must register it as soon as you become an Arizona resident, and state law requires a driver license immediately once any residency trigger applies. The triggers include taking a job in Arizona, enrolling children at resident tuition rates and staying in the state seven months or more in a calendar year.
Arizona collects its state Transaction Privilege Tax, often called a sales tax, at 5.6 percent, and counties and cities add more. The individual income tax is a flat 2.5 percent. Nevada has none, so a tax professional can help with a part-year return.
Heat is the planning fact
NOAA's Tucson airport normals show a July high of 100.2 degrees and a low of 76.3, with a January high of 66.5 and low of 40.8. Annual precipitation is 10.61 inches and snow is close to zero. Reno's July low is 60.4, so summer nights in Tucson are far warmer.
